UNIFY BEAUTIFY GLORIFY
Interior Painting & Design
Conrad Schmitt Studios is considered by many to be the best designers and painters of church art in the nation. Utilizing their expertise, we will be able to add art and stenciling throughout our church, making our space a place of great devotion to Mary and prayer and worship of our God. We also will be adding statues to the sanctuary, completing our upper stained-glass windows, adding pendant lights, updating our lighting as a whole, and updating and improving our sound system. All of this will make our church one of the most beautiful spaces within the Hays community, and even throughout the entire Diocese of Salina.
The Dome
-
The Immaculate Heart of Mary is depicted in her heavenly glory
-
Mary surmounts the clouds, the earth, the moon, as well as the serpent, showing her as Queen of Heaven and Earth and free over sin and death
-
The moon and twelve stars also come from the book of Revelation (Rev. 12:1)
-
Seven major silver rays symbolize the Seven Sorrows
The Sanctuary
-
The Crucifix is outlined in a large, arched panel – a motif that is often used to highlight items of liturgical significance
-
Behind the Crucifix is a Fleur de Lis pattern. The Fleur de Lis has often been a symbol of the Trinity
-
The angels have been moved to either side of the Tabernacle to show the veneration of Heaven to the true presence of Christ
-
The Alpha and Omega are above the angels – symbols of Christ being the beginning and the end (Rev. 22:13)
The Tabernacle
-
Floral patterns of acanthus and grape vines symbolize a return to paradise (i.e. Heaven), as well as Jesus being the Fruit of the Vine
-
Sparrows have association with Calvary (Jesus’ Sacrifice on the Cross). This also hearkens to the parable about faith being the size of a mustard seed, but growing into a plant for all the birds to dwell in (Mt. 13:31-32)
